The Fillerup family was asked by leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to move and settle in Colonia Juarez, Mexico. It was at this location that they developed the family salsa recipe. As a result of the Mexican Revolutionary War (1910-1920), our ancestors had to return to the United States. The Fillerup family ended up in Arizona. After Linnie got married and had a family of her own, she taught her daughter Moneta the art of salsa making. Moneta later passed the recipe to her daughter Michelle (also known as Shelly), who loved making salsa. However, it wasn’t until winning second place at “Nana’s Salsa Challenge” for the Arizona Hemophilia Association did she open a business and start selling it at local farmers markets, town fairs, and online (Past Winners | salsachallenge.com) (2017). To ensure customers can enjoy this award-winning salsa that is garden fresh, Michelle created a salsa seasoning. This original idea allows people to make salsa whenever and wherever they want. In addition to making actual salsa, many people have used this seasoning on their chicken, steak, fish, roasted vegetables, and guacamole. A shopping list as well as simple directions are found on the label.
